Southern California Cable Telecommunications Charitable Foundation
Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to 14 Local High School Seniors
The Southern California Cable and Telecommunications Association (SCCTA) Charitable Foundation, together with Charter Communications, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable, has awarded a total of $20,000 in college scholarships to local high school seniors. The SCCTA Foundation’s Lee Brennan Memorial Scholarship recognizes students interested in pursuing careers in the cable and telecommunications industry. Since the program’s inception in 1997, the foundation has awarded 124 scholarships now totaling $261,500.
A panel of judges composed of cable and telecommunication professionals selected the scholarship recipients based on essay composition, grade point average, and a willingness to make positive contributions to their communities. The SCCTA scholarship program signifies the cable industry’s ongoing commitment to higher education in Southern California. The scholarship celebrates the winning student’s academic achievements and commitment to their communities.

The SCCTA Charitable Foundation is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Lee Brennan while serving as an advocate for college bound youths wishing to enter into a career within the cable & telecommunications industry. Through hosting charitable, educational and networking events, the SCCTA Charitable Foundation, together with Southern California cable operators, programmers and vendors, provide college scholarships, developing relationships within the telecommunications industry while creating stronger, productive communities.
